Developing a Dynamic Board: The Key to Nonprofit Effectiveness

This workshop is designed for board members and executive directors of both new and established nonprofit organizations.

This workshop provides a clear, no-nonsense approach to building and maintaining a dynamic board—a critical task for every nonprofit organization. Topics include: recruitment, the role of the governing board, legal and societal responsibilities, the responsibilities of directors in relation to the responsibilities of staff, and structure and organization of the governing board. Participants will discuss several case studies and will learn best practices for conducting board meetings.

Through this workshop, participants will:
  • Gain a better understanding of a board member's legal duties and role vs. those of the staff.
  • Guide the board in adopting sound policies and procedures regarding their performance.
