Starting A Nonprofit Organization: What’s Involved?

This workshop is designed for anyone interested in learning the procedures of starting a nonprofit, as well as for those who have already begun the process.

Nonprofit organizations are formed by groups of people with a common concern who organize to take action. However, the legal steps and action items required to register a nonprofit can be daunting. This session, led by experienced consultants who have helped numerous start-ups, is designed to ease the process by providing a checklist of the actions necessary to gain nonprofit tax-exempt status and recommended resources to turn to for help.

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the checklist of actions necessary to gain nonprofit tax exempt status
  • Successfully complete the articles of incorporation and IRS Form 1023
  • Become knowledgeable about the legal expectations and the nondistribution constraint of forming a start up nonprofit
