Fundamentals for Nonprofit Board Leadership

Are you new to a nonprofit board leadership position?

 

In this course you will learn best practice strategies to keep your organization focused, energized, and engaged. This session covers an overview of fundamental board responsibilities that are necessary for successful governance, including strategic planning, succession planning, committee structure and effectiveness, and board orientation.

 Who should attend? = Introductory course for new board leaders

  • Existing board members who have moved into a leadership role.
  • Executive Directors who are interested in engaging their new board leadership.
  • Board members who are interested in moving into a leadership position.

Method of Facilitation: lecture, group discussion, real work examples 


This work will amplify the impact of nonprofits by helping participants:

  • Understand how to utilize key governance tools.
  • Link the organization’s mission to strategic planning, budget, board committee work and board recruitment.
  • Understand the roles and expectations of the board of directors vs. nonprofit employees 
  • Work with peers to network and share insights about being on a board.
