Certificate: CNM Leadership Development Leadership Challenge® Workshop - Fall Cohort

Are leaders born or made? Research has shown that leadership is a set of practices and skills that can be developed. Here at CNM we have structured our new CNM Leadership Certificate around these practices.

The CNM Leadership Certificate has been revamped to incorporate The Leadership Challenge® framework. The Leadership Challenge® is an international bestselling book, workshop, and assessment tool that utilizes from over 30 years of research from authors James Kouzes and Barry Posner. From decades of research, Kouzes and Posner found that great leaders are consistently doing the same key actions, summed up in The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®.

The Leadership Challenge® Workshop will be presented in three parts, allowing participants time to explore each one of these practices in depth. Each course will be facilitated by Kellee Mannix, CNM Director of Education who recently completed a Masters in Education with a focus in Leadership and Organizational Performance at Vanderbilt University. Through an intensive cohort model, participants will have the opportunity for deeper learning and building stronger networks. See below for details of each session.

Leadership Challenge Fall Cohort

Leadership Challenge Workshop Part 1

August 27, 2019 facilitated by Kellee Mannix

Before the first session each participant will take part in a leadership assessment called the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI). In Part 1 of the workshop the instructor will help the participants explore the twenty-page assessment report to learn how their manager, colleagues, and other observers view their leadership practices. The participants will then explore the first leadership practice called Model the Way, and start their individualized leadership action plan. Participants make commitments to practice their new skills before the next workshop.

Leadership Challenge Workshop Part 2

September 17, 2019 facilitated by Kellee Mannix

In this session participants will dive deeper into the next two Practices of Exemplary Leadership®: Inspiring a Shared Vision, and Challenge the Process. Leaders will learn best practices for inspiring a share vision for their organization or team. Then each participant will craft and clarify their leadership vision while incorporating feedback from the group. The group will learn how great leaders challenge the process and prepare for change. We will explore best practices for change management and how to manage resistance. Participants will continue their personal action plans and make commitments to practice their new skills before the next workshop.
