Every great organization has a strategic plan that is used to guide their organization. However, most nonprofit professionals feel unequipped to lead their organization through the process. Join Belinda Dinwiddie-Havron, Director of Donor Engagement at the Community Foundation, in this two-part course to learn about what is needed to create a strategic plan and how to implement it.Note that Strategic Planning: Part 1 and Part 2 are six months apart with the expectation that homework and meet ups will occur between. Strategic Plan: Part 1 Creating the Plan (March 22, 2019)
In this session, learn why organizations use a strategic plan, and how this plan has changed to meet the needs of nonprofits. Learn the best practices for how to start the plan, who needs to be involved, and what key components need to be involved. Participants will leave with a Strategic Plan draft to bring back to their organization and their board. Homework will be like collecting data, planning for board meetings, and communicating with staff. It is highly recommended to attend this course with multiple people from your organization, especially a board member.

Strategic Plan: Part 2 Implementation (September 6, 2019)
In this session, participants will review their progress on the strategic plan. Through a facilitated session, participants will get feedback on the process thus far and problem solve together. The course will then explore what the strategic plan implementation will look like and how to roll out a new plan. Understand the importance of communication and organizational buy in in this process. It is okay if your organization is not ready for implementation just yet. The tools will be provided for you to implement on your organization's timeline.

This is an advanced course for people who are leading or assisting with the creating and implementation of a strategic plan. It is okay if you are new to strategic planning. It is more essential that you are in a position that will be leading or assisting with a strategic plan.
I just want to take one Part of the course (ex. Part 1). Can I do that?
No. This session is a two part course. Individuals need to attend both courses.
We are not doing a strategic plan until next year. Is this course right for me?
Yes. This course is great for people who are currently doing a strategic planning process, or who are doing it in the near future.
